Default C5 Guide Pin Question?

Finishing up my brake upgrade and had one more question. The part of the bracket where the guide pin slides in, and theres a bolt for each guide pin that threads into the end, holding the actual caliper to the bracket-is there supposed to be some other hardware there?-Just seems like the caliper would slide off easily. Maybe Im just having a stupid moment/brain freeze? :/

Since no one has responded in an hour:

Cannot say for sure what problem you may be having & do not have experience with the C5 calipers, never took them off the 99 FRC.

With that said & generally: As long as calipers are retained to stop vertical movement they are not going anywhere once installed over a rotor except for the designed floating feature.

Thanks for the reply. They are retained as the calipers themselves are bolted to the abutment bracket which is bolted to the adapter piece. I was just concerned since the caliper slides on the guide pins.

When you put the caliper on you will notice that the guide pin slides from the bracket through the caliper and back into the bracket. The caliper slides along the pin and the bracket holds everything to the car and keeps the caliper from sliding off.

Not sure if my description helps.

To be honest, I don't remember exactly how it assembles, but that sounds right.
The ends of the brake pads fit inside of the abutments against the anti-rattle clips.
The movement along the guide-pins is supposed to happen. They will have some play until you apply pressure with the brake pedal to seat the pads against the rotor.
Make sure you torque everything to spec, so things don't warp.
Good luck on your project.

Heres the answer I was looking for.
I think I was just being a little paranoid since I seem to always have stupid setbacks when working on my C4 but Im pretty sure now that my front brake upgrade is good to go. Just waiting on a set up flare nut wrenches so I can change my brake lines-sucks being in Germany-the Px didnt sell any and neither did this German hardware store I went to so I had to order some from autozone.

Next time you are going to start a project, PM me. I'll have most every tool you'll need and can post them to you MPS through the APO system. As we are in the same theater, it will be faster than ordering from the States. When you are done, post them back to me.
