Default Busted sensor on my 86 Vette

Hey guys.. I tried searching but couldnt find anything so here goes.. I am in the middle of replacing my Water Pump on my Vette and in the process I busted a sensor on the front of the intake manifold under the TB directly behind the Waterpump.. I thought it was a coolant temp sensor but Pep Boys told me its a EGR TIME Delay Control Switch. I also busted the Vaccumm lines that run on the Passenger side under the runners from the EGR valve and another valve that y into 1 tube then split into 2 tubes again once they reach the AC compressor area. I was gonna try to rebuild these lines and buy a new sensor but I am just thinking it might be easier and cheaper to just delete the EGR. Are those the vaccumm lines you cap off the ones on the Valve and would that busted Time Delay sensor be an issue??

I believe the sensor in the intake manifold under the throttle body is the coolant sensor for the ECM. Just replace the hard VACUUM lines with rubber ones and you should be fine. Some cars need to EGR valve to decrease detonation at part throttle.

The sensor (to the left of the circled one in the pic above) with the connector that looks the same as the fuel injector connectors is the cold start temperature switch. They are pretty sophisticated devices and cost over $100. You might be able to find it for less money by looking at alternate part numbers (same part, just different numbers): GM: 14084318 ACDelco: 212-312 Bosch: 0 280 130 229.

You can replace the plastic vacuum lines with this stuff:

It comes in different sizes. Make sure you get the 5/32" diameter.

You guys rock.. Its the sensor to the left of the circled one in the picture.. I am thinking its the same that Pep Boys has.. The one I busted was a Bosch and they cross referanced the P/N in the system and came up with the EGR Temp switch what they call it.. I ordered it and we shall see.. Cost about 48.00.. The picture looked exactly like the sensor I have with the same connector. Its says its for a 86 Vette in there description and I assume that GM wouldnt use the same connectors on different sensors..

EGR temp switch is this guy:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/350490739107...r#ht_520wt_882

I did find this:

http://frugalmechanic.com/auto-part/...-products-egt4

That's a cold start temperature switch and has NOTHING to do with EGR. Looks like somebody made a mistake on the description. As long as it works for you...

Well we shall see.. Hopefully when the sensor comes in tomorrow it will be the one I need. If it is then Pepboys has them for 48.00..
