Got my C5 Brake upgrade brackets. Any tips?
I got my Electro-Dynamics brake upgrade brackets and hardware. I'm upgrading on Memorial Day Weekend. Got the shop manual also. I am about to order the rest of the parts. Any tips?
John Shiels was kind enough to post this on the C5 tech page:
Get DRM stainless pistions, PFC fluid, pads Raybestos for the street no dust. Any race pads even Hawks HP plus are dusty. Raybestos will fade from 140 but good enough for street.
Pistons seem like a good idea. Dust doesn't bug me to much as I wash like a fiend. ElDiablo once told me to use Ford Blue brake fluid. I want a good fluid I don't need to change every two months, Good pads for hard road racing, I mean driving, and decent rotors. I want the Eradispeeds but my wallet doesn't want them right now so I was going to get the stock C5 rotors.
Should I:
Get the stock or durastop slotted/drilled rotors?
Use Ford Blue or some other fluid?
Get the Hawk street or Raybestos or EBC green pads?
Get the stainless Steel lines?
Upgrade the pistons?
Any feedback would be appreciated.

I just finished mine. I used the GM DuraStop drilled and slotted rotors and their ceramic pads. I used the ZO6 calipers and Russel SS lines. I used Valvoline non-synthetic fluid. Most people don't recomend the synthetic. Check the can and get the highest boiling point.
The adaptors need blue Loctite for the bolts and you may need to look at the Electro-Dynamics web site to see how they are positioned. It is a great mod and compared to the 12" brakes I had it is a leap forward in performance. (They look really nice too.)

Nothing out of the usual, just go slow and keep everything clean. It really helps to assemble everything before you make it for real, to check out the fit.
The one thing I didn't have was a 12mm flare wrench for the brake line fittings. Not absolutely needed but you don't want to round them off. It would be a PITA to replace the whole line.
Good luck.
