There is an application for Macs that runs as a Python program. It was written for UNIX boxes. I don't remember the original name. I adapted it for Mac OS X and changed the name to MacOBD-II. The original developer abandoned the project and left it in an unworkable state. I fixed most of it and it now displays the parameters correctly. One problem it has is that it will not display DTCs - Diagnostic Trouble Codes. The original author faked the codes -- the ones he displayed don't actually come from the ECM. I don't know the protocol for querying the ECM to retrieve DTCs. Source code is included, so you are free to modify, improve or whatever. You must have MacPython and wxPython installed and a OBD-II to USB converter cable to run this app:

----------- [ EDIT ] ----------------
FuzzyCar has disappeared. The web site no longer exists.
There are two versions of Rev. Rev Lite and regular Rev. I don't think Rev Lite will display error codes.
The original Python program was called pyOBD, written by Donour Sizemore. Apparently he wrote it as a senior project at the university he was attending. From what I could tell, he was using a UNIX computer to run the program.
The error code section of the program apparently looks for error codes and if it finds none it just displays a bunch of sample errors. The author insists that the error code section DOES work correctly, but I have not seen that. My car doesn't have any errors to display, so that could explain it. I guess the only way to find out is to disconnect something and see what happens...
