Default lt1 performance ideas???

i have a lt1 automatic with 97,000 miles. i have long tube headers and exhaust system. im looking for more horsepower....i was thinking bout a procharger they have for 6k but then i think it might be better to spend that money into a cam kit and heads and roller rockers and stuff...im not a full mechanic to do this..im in jacksonville florida, and i was wondering if anyone knows a kit i can buy that comes with a good cam and head kit! i want this car to last so with the cam ill go mild i guess??

Depends what you want the engine to do, I was the same way I wanted to shove either a LT4 cam or the biggest cam I could find just for a choppy sound, but turned out thats not what I wanted to achieve with my L98, LT1's can beat L98's but my tune can prove a few LT owners dead wrong a friend of mine has a LT1 with exhaust long tubes, Lingenfelter 211/219 .530/.560 cam 4.33 gears(i think) an a nice set of drag radials and he beats himself everytime we line up at a streetlight lol

Plan out what you want your LT to do, talk to someone who can help you to get there, prochargers are ok but I hear they rob alot of power, look into a nice mild cam, step up your trq converter, upgrade the gears, port the heads int/exh, play, with the comp. That's less than 6,000 grand and possibly a better start of a build than a ProCharger. Anybody on here can tell you what to get or what you should get but its what you want it to do, good luck

I would leave the descision to port the intake up to whoever does the heads. When I had my heads done~10 years ago the machinist didn't think porting the intake was worth the cost/effort. But, there has been improvements in that time and maybe now it would be worth the extra cost.

Cam,new springs,1.6 RR,stall converter and gears.Tune it and go.More than enough power for most of us.The rest you spend big bucks for and don't enjoy driving it as much daily.
