The bearings are going out on my '96 LT4 alternator. Unless someone has a recommendation of a good rebuild shop in the Dallas area, I plan on buying a replacement lifetime cheapo, and keeping the original for posterity.
When I look online, just one alternator comes up for '96. Are the LT1 and LT4 alternators the same?
Also, before I forego the core charge, based on the numbers on the alternator how can I tell if it is original to the car? The numbers are:
Thanks for the date identification. The door jam shows 9/95 and the engine 09/19, so I am not sure if a November alternator is original. My understanding is the trim tag represents when the body was made, not necessarily final assembly, but that seems like a long time.
Your post was not too late, and I kept the alternator. Based on my experience with C3's, I am keeping all the original parts on this C4.
