Ditching the Bose..Need Help
1) Is the SES or SYS light an issue either way by connecting or not connecting the illum wire?
2) Can I use a new (standard) HU wiring harness when replacing the Bose speakers/amps or will I still need the bypass harness from (Crutchfield)?
3) Regardless of the type of harness, I know that I will need to run all new speaker wire. In this sense, can I simply plug the new harness into the factory harness and wire it for just the power, ground, antenna? By doing this I could then direct connect the new speaker wire to the HU harness?
4) Power Antenna- Not to concerned about this as I would mostly be lisenting to music from an Ipod connected to the HU, but anysuggestions on doing right would be great
I hope I am making sense as I think I have gone cross eyed from looking at this screen for so long.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
after many years, repairing the unit, and amplifier. at last I removed the bose system
was a great system, but now exist better option at very affordabel price.
you can install a new unit, single or double size unit. the adapter sells in a lot of places.
double size includes video screen and gps,mp3,sd,usb ipod
I installed a single unit alpine with usb and ipod ready.
I tried 3 configurations.
1 setup
1.- Front 6 1/2 boston acoustic 2 way component
2.- rear 6 1/2 woofers
3.- 4 channel amp
4.- 2 way electronic crossover audiocontrol
great accoustic the bass sounds in front
2 setup
1.- Front 6 1/2 boston acoustic 2 way component
2.- rear 6 1/2 speakers
3.- 4 channel amp
better overall sound and cheaper
3 setup
1.- Front 6 1/2 boston acoustic 2 way component
2.- rear 6 1/2 speakers
3.- 4 channel amp
4.- 10" woofer in 1 cargo storage side (non abs)
5.- 1 channel amp
6.- audiocontrol epicenter
a lt more bass but really dont need it for me
the point is that with a new stereo and 4 speakers you will have a better sound quality, mp3.
the rear speaker enclosure already exist, front you need to make it, mine in fiberglass
Also look for posts by CF member "C5 Bearsfan" for information. Dennis is a Supporting Vendor and his business is stereo equipment and installs. Absolutely tremendous customer service. Just call him and tell him what you want to do. You will get tons of help and suggestions from him. Here's his website: http://www.doubledmods.com/

If it's similar to 89, you'll be able to "borrow" some of the OEM wires/harness for your new system. That's if you're feeling the need to do so. In my case, I used the front harness wires/plugs to feed sound to the door speakes. (That was after I bypassed the door amps. IOW, I reused the factory front Bose.)
For the rear, I ran new wires. I also "cheated" and used one of the rear factory speaker wires to pass my amp turn-on voltage. My amp is mounted in the rear. (Mostly, that because I forgot to run a wire for it until after the front carpet was re-installed.

watts out to a Planet Audio AC1800.5 1800 with 300w x 4 and 600w x 1
to sub.
Fits like a glove with just a little cutting in trim panel. Best thing I've done to the vette.
Sony 6x9 and Sony's up front.
Clear tunes low or deafening
