I have a 383 stroker with comp cam[***** Thumper] 1.6 roller rockers,TPIs mini ram, 52mm tb ,TPIS headers, HEI/hypertech,2400 stall speed conv. 373 gears. I am going to use ngk fr5 plugs with 8.5mm wires. NEED TO KNOW fuel pressure and plug gap. THANKS
Stock fuel pressure and stock gap is what I have in mine. What size injectors do you have? The tuner should have set the EPROM for that size and the correct fuel tables.
What compression are you running? As a rule, a higher compression motor uses a smaller gap. A wide gap tends to not be able to ignite a more dense mixture.
9.5 to 1 comp i gapped plugs at 45 and turned fuel pressure 47lbs. running better but still seems sluggish
I wouldn't run it anymore until you get better injectors unless you want a hole in your pistons. Have you checked what your injector size is and what the tuner set it up for? 47 is a little more than stock pressure. I set mine for about 43-44 with the hose off.
On a 383? Stock injectors are a little small. Get a proper set from FIC. I am running 42
I believe what he meant is he put the stock prom back in,not the stock injectors back in............. Im also running #24 injectors in my 383 as per Jon at FIC , I have 10.25 to 1 compression and Im running FR-5 plugs, if you have 9.5 to 1 compression FR-5 plugs may be a little to cool for your motor and you may want to run one range hotter.....My fuel pressure is set at 43.5 with the vacuam line pulled.. My plug gap is set to the factory spec of .035 and that gap will work fine with 9.5 compression...Some guys keep opening the gap on the plugs to get a little more power, but I found the stock setting or just a few ticks above stock (.037 ) works fine without having to play with the gap...Good Luck...WW

Interesting. How much power are you making? On the dyno, I made 410 RWHP which translates to no more than 500. Using that figure with a duty cycle of 80% and 0.5 BFSC you need 39pph injectors

Im no where near that , I have about 385 at the crank..Jon says #24 lb injectors can handle this and Mick Stevens agreed ...WW

OK. Fair enough. I would have thought that we'd be pretty close though which was why I thought you should be making more and needing bigger injectors. What are you having besides a 383?

Im only running a 218/226 cam in mine with 1.6 rockers.I wanted to keep it fairly mild for the street..Im also running a High flow TPI system, thats one reason for the lower HP..Pete Kane told me Im only a Cam and Intake away from 500 HP.... ..WW

I live in bend oregon NO ONE any where around here has a dyno. closest place is portland/vancouver area. If anyone knows of someone reliable in that area i would be grateful for the info.
I was between you two when I had my 383. 10.4 compression and ran 30 lb injectors. Shifted at 6300 and ran low 11's. With my 406, I'm running 12.5 compression and 36 lb injectors. Both motors with the regulator at 42 with the hose off. I guess there is a wide range of tolerance.

It only takes cubic dollars. Here is an idea. Go borrow the money. When it comes due, borrow more to pay it off and kick the can down the road. The govt does that so why not you?
