I could install a set but every 2 years prior to emissions testing, they would just have to come off once again and the cat back system re-installed.
Just too much of a hassle and it's just easier for me to keep it legal.

It still runs high 12 second ETs at 102.00 mph with 1.70 60 foot times all with emission legal parts such as Edelbrock Performer heads, Comp Cam, 1.6 Comp Cams Roller Rockers, BBK 58MM throttle body while retaining the factory intake and runners.
Working on a deal right now to install a Accel Super Ram that has been extrude ported that I hope will get it into the mid 12's.
Engine is a 383 stroker and a 2.59 rear end gear

Nitrous kit.Might get close to it with gears and drag radials depending on what you have now.

Ah, I see you've got an 86. Unfortunately I don't think I got the same gains as you from doing headers; the LTx engines aren't nearly as choked up by the stock intake/exhaust as the L98.

\/\/\/ Hmm, that's good news! Maybe I've heard wrong.

Most .4-.6 second gains I've seen on the forum are LT engines.

California Dreaming. I haven't had any problems getting smog passed with header's albeit they are Shorty Header's from Sanderson Header's in SSF. I just re-install my MagnaFlow Cat, no muffler's btw, and passes it does. I will be adding Long Tube Header's by summer however. With my new CompCams Cam I may not pass smog now anyway but what the hey?

My Lt1 with headers and no cats, auto and 3.07 rear 12.9 @106mph stock engine. Better mph then your stroker. Thats why I didn't want a
L98 there no good in the big end.

My L98 went way south on me, cracked block, took the opportunity to build a new motor from the oil pan on up. All new block etc. with some goodies from Summit Racing and no more L98. It may look like one with the runner's & plenum but they to will go away soon as the extra cash flows. The engine builder estimates 350 hp on this now 355 ci beast. I have the same rear gears as you and since we are in the dead of January will not get to Infinion Raceway until the spring and sunny warm weather.

Put a set of cheapie Hedmans on my 85. Tied them in to the stock tubes. I love them. They fit amazingly well for what I paid for them. Glad to see someone else diggin on em too.

That's about a 20 chp gain in power.

What mods do you have in addition to headers & other exhaust work?? Is it an A4 or 4+3?

Try some simple ones:
-cut-back spark electrodes
-cut air cleaner housing
-160 deg T-stat & fan sw
-leave the spare & jack at home
-arrive at strip with 1/3 tank of fuel

Likely you could benefit from an AFPR with a bump in fuel pressure due to increased air flow.
