Base is good, SLPs are undersized w/o some serious porting. Find some TPIS/AS&M large tubes -- if that's what you want.

Have you determined AS&M (Arizona Speed & Marine) are sold out? Or, that you can't find an aftermarket set?

You could have the SLP's honed and siamesed (for better peformance).

Or, better yet, you could also look for a used upper superram manifold.

FIRST (fuel injection) manifolds are also very much worth considering.

as others have stated the SLP's are extremely rough as cast. you'll be spending hours porting and buying a flex hone to get the middle area, that is if you don't cut them in half to port correctly.

AS&M has always made the runners to have if you stay tpi. they are the runners GM should have used on the 350 to begin with !

not a huge believer in siamesing will make some crazy rpm gain but to really get that middle turn in those you need to take that center wall down about 3 in or so. Use a quality 6" carbide and low speed along with some patience you can take it down well. Know that the inside of he runner walls are much thicker than the outside, pay attention.
On the lower part of the runner there is a bolt boss there dont grind away that that so you dont go through it.

Have a set I just finished, doing some fine tuning on it willl throw up pics when done. You could grind for ages and ages on those things. lol
Lots of metal there.

If the SLP runners look like the ones below, I got .2 in the 1/4 mile bolting them on a stock 86 with no porting.

ok thanks for the info everyone. here is what i have, blew up my l98, found a nice 350 ith a mild cam and some cast heads called power somethin heck idk. so we want to drop that in my 87 and still use my TPI and run the computer. Driver side dip stick, found a nice pan to fit that. Now the issue is finding holes for all the sensors so the ECM doesnt freak. We are thinking about putting my L98 heads on it. thjis block was SBC 350 between 66 or 69 thru 79. I was thinking for my TPI to upgrade a bit. I see that there is edelbrock runners, slp ruinners and accel throttel body, and edelbrock intake. I need help comming up with a plan for that. Keep in mind iI am doing the EBAY thing because of a budget. Any help will be appreciated.
thanks.

Like the gregg and the other guys have said, the SLP's can work but need some hours of porting, the ASM are more expensive but have the greater flow straight up.

Right. It means you have to port the SLPs to make the TPIS vs SLP intall equal. If SLPs get you .2, TPIS tubes probably get you 3/10ths.

OTOH, because of their design, you can siamese and port the crap out of SLPs until they will eventually out-perform the mandrel-bent runners.

Most people don't want to go to that time-expense.

i MIGHT be able to get my hands on a superam/24lb injector, 52mm TB combo. i just haven't been watching the going rate. a friend of mine has a 383 1984 car that's built to hell and back, just the c4 market is about as soft as the comic book market so he's on the fence with parting it.

of course the reason i bring this up is because i would be the wrench pulling parts for a % of the profit

Not to be jumping in on someone else's parts..

But depending upon the cost and how soon he might want to sell the motor setup as a complete package I might be interested. Of course shipping cost to 33823 would play into it.

should be able to chat with him over the weekend. selling the whole engine would be ideal. i'd ballpark it somewhere around $3500 shipped, could likely do the entire car for twice that shipped. it's a really clean 1984 4+3 car, ron davis radiator, dana 44, edelbrock shocks, new bushings, clean, repaired. long story short the car was wrecked, reparied and never retitled. guy got into some trouble with child support.

i'll shoot you a pm once i have a chance to chat with him a bit
