Engine management system....
I think that is what it is called. It is a program that you can load onto a laptop computer, and monitor what is going on with you car in real time. I have seen them for other cars, but can't find one for a vette.

if you wanna change things in real time, you'll need a new computer, something like a haltech
if you just want to monitor the ecm check this out http://winaldl.webhop.net
it'll work on your 85, its free the the cable only costs a couple bucks to make.
