i got a 92 with a bad ground somewhere i think, i am having trouble with it starting, sometimes. when it does not want to start i have spark but no injector pulse, ive replaced the ecm, icm, coil and opti. i have also tested all the injectors and tested for shorts in the injector wiring. Ihave aslo checked the connector harness to the opti, all seem to be fine. I have noticed that when it comes to the no start condition , if i put my big battery charger on it and set it to the 200amp setting it will fire right up. There is no codes. I am thinking this has to be a ground problem, i have read that these cars and there electronics are very picky when it comes to the voltage and grounds. My ? is are there any common spots that this year had ground problems with. Somewhere for me to start hunting
I know this is going to sound really dumb but it's easy to try and you have nothing to lose. Charge the battery, when it's good. (assuming it will still hold a charge) lift your hood, and on the drivers side (at least on my 90) attached to the wheel well liner is a headlight module with two harness attached. Have your lights in the up position. Remove the harness. The headlights won't go up and down, but they will light. Now see over the next couple of days if you have problems. You have your problem child.
I had a similar problem, would crank and not fire. I had fuel pressure, new balanced injectors, new racetech fuel pump, new starter, a whole bunch of parts, and was killing battery's left and right. Tracing the problem and found it in the headlight module.
Before disconecting I was have to see 13+ volts on my meter to start the car and couldn't risk turning it off between runs at the autocross without dying. Now no problem.
