Autometer EGT prices?
A UK dealer has quoted me GBP 110 for an Autometer EGT with no thermocouple (which is about what I was expecting), but they are also quoting GBP 130 for a type K thermocouple on 6' of wire, with a stainless steel strap fitting (Autometer part number 5247). I have a coated exhaust, so don't want to weld screw-in fittings to it.
I've bought type K probes in the past with screw in fittings, and paid GBP 40! Can't see how adding a stainless steel strap can triple the value.
Can someone confirm if that price for the thermocouple is about right (forget converting to dollars - just think of it as more expensive then the gauge!).
Also, would I be right saying all Type K thermocouples are the same? i.e. if I can source one elsewhere, it doesn't matter if it isn't made by Autometer?
TIA
Steve

EGT 'kit' (which includes a type K thermocouple) - GBP117
Bare EGT - GBP 110
So it's 7 pounds for a thermocouple bought with the gauge and 130 quid for one bought seperately.
