Default spring question

okay, my 94 vette came with the stock base springs, roughly 75 up front and 39 in the rear, however I will autox the car and I wanted to swap the springs for the Z07 springs. these are hard to find, the front would be 91 and the rear would be 52. I found a 52 for the rear but no luck on the 91, but I did find a 93 which was base on a couple of other years like 1992 if memory serves. So I bought both of those and for the front I also bought QA-1 with the double clickers. I will install the same shocks on the rear next month. Anyway they all went in on Friday. First off, the handling is now amazing, it really feels fantastic, and realistically not much harsher, probably due to the shocks, but anyway Wow!
The only issue I ran into is that the front now sits slightly higher, like 1/4 inch to at most 1/2 inch, I am not exactly sure how much higher as I did not measure before. I know it is not in my head. I am hopeing that maybe since the springs have not been used in who knows how long they might settle in a bit in the next couple of weeks.
Any other ideas?

I'd let it settle for a while. Did you swap in the Z07 sway bars? Are you running 275's all around?

Yes to the sway bars, no to the tires, I am running C5 staggered wheels, but that should not make a difference as I was running them before I swapped the springs

I don't know where you are getting those spring numbers, but the reason you are sitting higher is due to the higher spring rates. You need to have the car aligned and corner balanced. Also, what kind of tires are you running? Street tires or race compound rubber?

I am fairly certain he is referring to the spring rates.

LTPI, truth is I was refering to spring rates, and you have to keep in mind changing spring rates should not increase or decrease ride height if you are using stock srpings, the softer springs have more arch while the stiffer ones have less arch.
End result the front is settling a bit and it looks like it should. As for the alighnment, yes, of course, however not much really changed, the only real change could have been a very slight camber change due to a change in ride height. either way it will be realigned in a week.
Also, since you asked I am currently running hankooks V-12, so street tires.

Right, it had been a while since I looked at the chart in N/mm. That's why the numbers looked weird.

Not sure about the arch of the springs, but I remember reading before that a Z51 suspension would sit slightly higher than an FE1. I figured that was why your car was sitting slightly higher. I do know that the VB&P high rate spring installed in my car does have less arch than the stock. I ask about the tires because a good tire will help out a lot in autox. A very good street tire for autox is the Kumho XS. There are a lot of people autoxing Vette's in the street category run the XS.

Keep in mind that the best tire for street/autox would be the dunloup direzza Z1 starspec. the problem that I have is I am running C5 wagon wheels so finding the correct sizing is an issue, none of the direzza Z1 will fit, the good Hankook rs-3 will not fit either, nor will the KhumoXs. The Hankook V-12 is not bad but not great either, I chose it due to price, as there was alot more to do on the car. For my wheels the best choice for autoX would be the bridgestone PE-11, all the aritcles and tirerack all confirm that this tire is great for autox, maybe slightly less good than the Direzza Z1 but more predictable than the Z1. Problem is the V-12 I used cost me 800 for all 4 while the birdgestones would have been clost to 1300. I will go with them when I kill the ones I am using now.
