Default AIR Pump

Is there an advantge to removing the AIR pump from 85 L98 and replacing with the eliminator pulley kit?

other than cleaning up the engine bay, no. Im removing mine as i dont like the noise it makes. Just get a smog first then take it off.

Very slight weight savings and very slight hp increase due to less drag. You don't see smog pumps on many serious cars at the strip.

Actually, some companies do that. One named GZ racing in northern California modifies factory smog pumps and uses them for evac. When my 84 was "near stock", I took the vanes out of my smog pump so as not to incur hp loss.
