Moroso can here mounted to the head. Works fine. Doesnt seem to have any fluids in it after awhile, just alittle water from condensation.
No PCV valve for me tho, just both covers vented to the can which has the filter on top to atmosphere. Debating on changing my setup to something like this:
Hi Dizwiz!
Generally speaking a catchcan on the C4 PCV system is not necessary. Remember a proper PCV system with a good checkvalve only passes gas/vapor under a vacuum just as though the engine is N/A - hence no need for the "catchcan". Would you normally install a catchcan on a stock C4 engine ?
However, the vapor/gases from any engine crankcase increase dramatically under WOT (with or without a blower or turbo) and consequently a possible need for a catchcan under some conditions on the crankcase breather system.
Introducing a catchcan on the C5 PCV (I was one of the first to introduce) was due to GM engineering. The C5 PCV system simply passed too much oil into the intake even on a stock engine. Just a design flaw on where the venting took place.
The C4 platform has never exhibited any such problem.
Just my observations and opinion.
