Try them? The bad part of the Chinese stuff is it's hot and cold.

Trouble seems to be the importers. They change suppliers [ factories ] but the name HERE never changes.

Good stuff from Won Hung Low on Monday.. but Junk from Low Fatt on Tuesday?

Can't say that I've bought any summit brand parts, but I have dealt with the company on numerous occasions and have always been very happy. Did you contact them and try to work it out? ANY mass produced product is going to have a bad batch every now and then.

As far as products being made in different places, well I don't like buying Taiwan or China either but unfortunately it's a fact of life. It's all about the bottom line.

As for the MSD issue, I've had a MSD digital 6 and a MSD ignition coil in my car for 11 years with no problems whatsoever. I've also got numerous friends running numerous MSD products and none of them has has the first problem with any of them.

Along that same line, I absolutely thoroughly and 100% HATE Goodyear tires and prefer Michelin any day of the week. Goodyear does provide OEM tires for numerous cars and is supposedly top of the line, but my family has had no end of trouble with them.

So, with that being said, keep this in mind. You're about 1000% more likely to find a complaint about a product on the internet than you are to find praise. People who have a product that works as intended tend to "forget" that they even have them. Sure if you ask them they'll tell you, but people are much more likely to tell people about a bad experience than they are a good one. As such we've got to take everything with a grain of salt. We've all got to go with our personal experiences because if you look hard enough you can find somebody who is not satisfied with anything.

Try em out, mine are still fine after taking the fuel lines apart multiple times. However the aluminum SAE fittings did not want to seal, I used Russell for those. Running 58psi.

Nathan,

again we are at polar opposites on what works and what doesnt on our similar cars.

Ill agree with you on the GDYR tires. Junk. Why do you think the new corvettes are riding on Michelins?

But when it comes to other stuff:

-Optima batteries or ignitions.
-Castrol bmw-motor-oil crap for transmission fluid

Talk to '93 Ragtop' about MSD Digital 6 plus boxes (the ones that have the 'retard function based on a wire input'. You will find he agrees with me with MSD digital 6 boxes malfunctioning, shortly after installation, causing a 'break-down' condition on the side of the road. If you dont bypass the box, you will need a tow home.

Just to be clear on what Im talking about doesnt work:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MSD-6520/

Now, to make clear what DOES work:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MSD-6420/

I invite you to inspect your MSD igntion coil in a dark garage with lights out. Look for spark arcs between the top and the 'metal sides' .

Anyways, If I was in the white house, I would have invaded china/taiwan (instead of iraq in 2003) and blown them up to ensure that they werent:

a. taking our jobs
b. killing our pets
c. killing our kids.

To make sure they cant kill us with defective parts. They have already launched a full-out scale war on us.

Diz, we've been round and round in circles over the MSD thing years before, there's no point in doing it again now. It works for me and works for my friends. IF mine was to quit I could bypass it and be back on the road in 5 minutes. I'm not going to stop using working parts just because of what somebody else on the internet says.

If I have a run of bad luck with MSD products then I'll change by tune, until then I can only report that I've had perfect luck with them. I'm sorry that you've had bad luck with them. I can't change that nor is it my intention.

My point was not to start a war, my point was that for every report of a failed product on the internet there may well be 100 perfectly working items. I'm not saying that your failures aren't genuine, I'm just saying that people like to complain so it's easier to find reports of failures than reports of success so take what you read with a grain of salt.

Guess I'll stick with my HEI for now. Funny, a long time ago I bought a Crane box for a 240Z I owned. It was crap right out of the box and I sent it back.
Guess sometimes OEM is just the best compromise.

Taiwan and China are not the same. I buy American when I can, but stuff made in Taiwan is much better than Chinese parts usually.

I recently had a total frame-off restoration and the restorer changed everything. He had my car for several years and I learned that he installed a new Walbro fuel pump, only to have it crap out on him 2 months later. He found out that it was made in Crapina when he thought it was made here. He told me that from now on, he needs to ensure that every part he orders isn't made in Crapina. That hellhole of a country really does produce nothing but crap.

My restorer found another vendor that was also selling Walbro but these were made here. The damn Crapinese were making knock-offs, which were nothing but crap. I guess the lesson is be careful what you buy. My restorer has been in the Corvette business for decades and he was also taken in. He told me that he was under the impression that the vendor he purchased it from knew where he was getting them from and apparently, he didn't. Or worse, didn't want to know.

He told me he's glad that this happened because from now on, he's not going to assume anything and he will be certain that the parts he installs are top quality.

There was a bad run of Walbro knock offs a few years ago. Shame, I thought that had passed and they no longer were coming in.

When you get the item, just ensure that it doesn't say, "Made in Crapina." The damn bastards think they're getting cute because some Crapinese companies are having us (USA) package their crap and then sell it here. So when we buy it, it says in big letters, "Packaged or Assembled in USA" and in small letters, somewhere hidden, it says, "Made in Crapina."

It's in the Gas tank. I doubt Racetronix would be selling inferior products made in china.
