Default Need some help with LT1 motor

Hey Guys, I have a 95 Corvette and the LT1 has a spun bearing. I am going to just drop in another motor for right now, but I have some questions. I have found a LT1 that a guy said was removed from a '95 vette, but the valve covers are different than what a vette would have. It does have aluminum heads and stamped on the block is 5.7 lg. Sgi. G204. The guy who has it was going to use it in a camaro project. He purchased it from another guy who said he saw it removed from a '95 vette. Supposedly the motor only has 35k miles on it. I got some pics for those who may can tell the difference between the LT1 motors. I am not that familiar with the LT1's. I do know the vettes were 4 bolt mains with aluminum heads while the f-bodies had 2 bolt mains and aluminum heads. Impalas, caprices, and buicks had the 2 bolt mains with cast iron heads. Can anybody help me in determining whether or not this is a true vette motor?

I can't say for sure, but that looks EXACTLY like the motor that was in my old 95 Z/28. Down to the valve covers... Which would mean that it is a 2 bolt main and 275 HP vs 300 HP and a 4 bolt main. Hope that helps.

The motor is from a Camaro.

Camaro motor. It'll work but a few things will be slightly different, such as hose routing, sensor positions, etc. Should be able to take all the stuff off of your vette engine to make it work.

It is my understanding that the cams and such were actually the same, the f-bodies were just rated lower HP because of a more restrictive intake path and single exhaust.

It does only have 2 bolt mains though so its not as strong but it will certainly do until you can rebuild your stocker into a road burner.

The Vette didn't have that giant starter.

Judging by all the corrosion on the TB that thing has been sitting for a LONG time.

It's got a FRAM filter on it too, not the best sign.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I will pass on it. I thought it appeared to have been sitting for awhile. I'll be on a lookout for another vette LT1 motor.
