Default Cold start rough running with cam...??'s

I have never had an aftermarket cam before or been in a car with aftermarket cam. On cold mornings, I start the vette and it just feels rough..No sputtering or anything like that, just feels like parts on the inside are slapping around. I bet if I had a cup of coffee, the coffee would splash all over. Sitting in the seat the car feels like its rocking around. I am thinking its just because the cam, roller rockers ect....??

After a minute it feels amazing or normal. No rocking or anything. Is this to be expected with cams and built motors ?

Cams make more power because they allow the engine to be more efficient at a certain power band. The tradeoff is that they are less efficient outside of that power band, particularly at idle.

You can help a lot with tuning, tweaking idle speed, fuel curves, etc, etc, but any performance cam is always going to idle rougher than the stocker.

I have always wanted a cam, not for the performance but for the loping. I love the sound of mine..At cold idle, its choppy and rough..I just wanted to make sure its normal of these things or if I have loose parts. Cold starts get me thinking...I am sure its all normal though..

Well if you just wanted the lope you could have unplugged a few spark plug wires, that would have been cheaper.

Derek, my tune is pretty much spot-on and on a cold day after the Vette hasn't been ran in a few days I will get the same issue as you've described.
