Default That third pedal...

I gotta have one! I'm finally scrounging up parts for my trans swap this fall. I have an '86...automatic...coupe. I've found a brake/clutch pedal assembly from an '88 C4 for sale. Anybody know if these are the same as the '86 pedal assemblies?

I would think so since the 4+3 was the same up through '88. I just wanted to confirm before I shell out any cash.

Thanks in advance!

I looked into this when I had my first vette an 87. They were the same, however its more than just a pedal assembly, its alot of parts and money even done yourself. I hope you know what you are getting into. Its way cheaper to sell and re buy a manual. Driveshaft, clutch, flywheel, manual ecm, dash parts for the consol, not to mention all the tiny unforseen crap.

I really wanted to do it too, but you loose almost all the money put into it. Take that money, sell your car, get another that is newer and has the manual, maybe even get a ZF6. Its hard since its your car but I am way happier now. 89 looks the same and 6 speeds are way cooler than a automatic in disguise...

I went with the ZF6 in my 86. Used 88 pedals, 89 master and slave, 93 everything else. If you really like your car and want to keep it go for it. I'm glad I did. My Corvette is my baby. I would never trade it.

Thanks guys! No worries rithsleeper, I know what I'm getting into. This car has quite a bit of sentimental value to me. Not only is it my first Corvette, its the first car I ever bought or took on track.

Ok, as long as you know what it takes, go for it. I hope it all works out.

Have you thought about a Tremec instead of a ZF or 4+3?
If I was in your shoes I'd look at it because its been done a few times.

Then again if I had an automatic that I took to the track and wanted a manual I'd sell it and get a manual car. As a matter of fact thats what I did, started with an 88 automatic, went to a v6 rustang manual, then to my 92 manual.

Thanks for the input, jaa1992. I'll actually be going with the T-56 since it's the lightest, has closer ratios, and i'll never have more than 400 hp in this car ('94-'97 are rated to 450). There's other reasons but i don't want to start a debate on the virtues of all the different options.

No worries, I've done my homework.
