Figures a week before the cruise-in I get all kinds of little bugs popping up. First the rough running and coolant dissappearing which could worst case be head gaskets or intake gaskets.... now this:
I'm getting the 'service abs' light. Check EBCM codes and get 76, which is "lateral accelerometer signal out of range or incorrect"
Is the Lateral Accelerometer located behind the drivers seat with the other ABS stuff?
Re: Lateral Accelerometer Location.... where is it? (Marcho Polo)
It's supposed to be in the "tunnel" down by the shifter-I've had my center section apart but if I did see it, I didn't know what it was that I was looking at!

AHA!!!!
I had that area in pieces last Friday night while isntalling my new stereo. I must have screwed it up. Might have pulled the wires on accident or something. At least I know where to look now!
Re: Lateral Accelerometer Location.... where is it? (Marcho Polo)
It is a small box with texh BOSCH on it.
If you would have loosened the wires by accident i think you would get both error codes. The wire clip also has a locking mechanism so it is not easily loosened by accident.
Mine started to act up too, i got both codes. I took it out, opened it and realised there is nothing i can repair inside (just electronics). Remembered that most of Vette ABS problems are humidy related. so I sprayed WD40 inside, used some electric tape to make a bit more waterproof ;) and it worked ok for 6 months. Then the problems returned and I choose to get a "new" one from a scrap yard. I found a 92 model which had differend coloured casing but otherwise looked the same. I plugged it in and no problems since.
BTW, you say your coolant is disappearing? A warning: I would not be driving around if i were you before figuring out what is wrong. In worst case you might get your cooland and oil mixed and destroy your main bearings with that diluted oil. I am holding my thumbs up and hoping I realised quickly enough what is wrong and my bottom end is still ok.
