Hi all.
recently bought a 1989 money pit.
been working on it last few weeks.
finally got the cluster worked out and a few other problems solved.
my newest project is the weather stripping. most of ones i was shopping had rotted out
rubber. this car in its former life was garage kept in air conditioning.
its weather stripping is great.
question is how do i keep it that way?
is ther a spray or something i should treat it with?
silicone or some special stuff?
other question is the (abs plastic?) air cleaner. its screw tab is broken. i have the part.
have tried several 2 part epoxies to hold together. even with very light pressure from the hold down screw it just lifts out.
As for the weatherstripping, there are several products on the market that will keep the weatherstripping in good shape. I am not too fussy because I know that opinions change rapidly about what is good and what isn't...kind of like shampoos.
If you are talking about the tab on the air filter housing I used JB Weld to repair mine and it worked great. I had also tried the 2-part epoxy with no sucess. Good luck.
