Default 84 crossfire and WinAldl

I cannot get winaldl to work with my crossfire.

I have a thermomaster chip, but they told me to use the standard settings.

The ECM number ends in 6026.

I have a USB to OBD1 plug, but when I connect it I see nothing on WinALDL. Is there a way to check if it is actually seeing anything?

I set it up at 4800 baud on com1 and nothing.
changed to 2400 baud, nothing
changed to com3...same.

How can I test my cable?

Can you see the cable in the Device Manager? I believe it shows up under USB devices. You might need to install a driver for the cable.

Yes I can see it in Windows.

I have it set as Com 1, 4800baud, N,8,1

but Winaldl doesn't seem to see it.

You may need a different cable? When I used winALDL(a long time ago) I dont think it needed a com port designation. My USB cable I use today does. I did however when I replaced my laptop(serial) with USB port laptop I needed to use a serial to USB adapter. Only then I needed to specify a com port ....

Were you able to figure this out. I am getting ready to venture down the same road you are on now, and would like to avoid buying the wrong cable if at all possible.

Let me know.

Thanks

I would suggest to buy from craig moates as he SUPPORTS the tuning community. At least you will know it works and he will help you if you need.

Thanke for the advice, I've been leaning towards Moates since I began researching the possibility of using my laptop to tune my Vette. Being a Geek I have an HP tablet with the official GM 84-96 Parts Manual and two other fairly decent service manuals on it. I am getting the GM FSM and FESM for the vette as well, and will get those scanned for the laptop as well.

Again thanks for the support.
