'86 Running rich...your thoughts.
I noticed during a drive to a friends house yesterday...the car seemed to be 'loading up' on me. (not noticeable when moving along, but especially when coming to a stop, and pushing in the clutch).
Had the top down, and 'got into it' a little bit, but saw no signs of black smoke, or any smoke for that matter. Hmmm!!!
I'm still using the 'stock injectors' that came with the car. (I tried using Accel, 25K miles ago, but the performance was worse...so I switched back to the stock injectors). It ran great up to this point.
The feul pressure regulator I use is from TPIS, and through earlier seat of the pants, WOT tests...I got it set at 47psi, where it seemed to perform the best.
Questions: How often do we need to replace the fuel pressure regulator? Do they go bad, and how can I tell for sure, it is bad? Can they be repaired? Does the 'spring' inside go bad? Where would I get a regulator spring...if in fact that's the problem?
My stock injectors probably have 100K miles on them to this point. How can I tell if they are bad?
It's not the costs of new parts that bothers me...it's just a 'need to know thing'.
I'm hoping some of the forum members have come across this senario before, and might have a suggestion or two.
All thoughts and comments appreciated.

As far as regulators go, they should have a life expectancy of at least 50,000 miles if not more...
PS: I just recently put in Accel Injectors (like 2 days ago!)...am interested in what kind of problems you ran into  as am getting ready to drive it down to the Cruise-In next week??? Maybe we'll see you down there
I appreciate your reply.
I will check the forum as you suggest.
What I didn't like about the Accel injectors, they seemed to make the engine 'fall' all over itself.
I tried from a stand still, a 20 MPH roll, 2nd gear 30MPH roll, etc.etc., and got the same results.
Went back to the stock injectors...and the difference was so noticeable...I haven't given the injectors a second thought......................until now!!
BTW Usually when the bladder burst in the AFPR, , your vaccum line will have or smell like gas.

The accel injectors are great for the money and perform well considering calibrations are done correctly.
