That's funny though because it's not hard to start up at all. Fires up with a roar every time.

It may be your FPR going. I was getting a gassy smell for a few weeks, but the car would start fine.. after a few weeks, however, it became very difficult to start, and was idling very rough. I finally pinned it down to a broken membrane in the FPR.. Replaced the FPR, and now, no gassy smell, and it starts up fine.
