I have a 1992 Lt1 stock engine w/ over 134k miles on it. When I start it cold it has a very rough idle sometimes idling very high almost 2k rpm. I drove it last night it was burning gas (white smoke) sputtering/stalling numerous times. Although, once it warms up the car runs perfectly fine. I'm not really sure where to start the problem could come from a million different places. I am going to bring it to a shop in a couple days to check if it has thrown any codes up, but if anyone has had this problem or has a hunch on what the cause might be I would appreciate your help.
White smoke is NOT gas. Rich=Black Smoke, Oil=Gray Smoke, WHITE=COOLANT.
The water vapor is not smoke, that is normal. When they smoke like there is a problem you'll know it. IT bellows out big time.
How does it run warm/hot?
Start with the basics, fuel pressure, spark, air, compression, etc...
Also, if you have a high idle like 2K, either you have a huge vacuum leak or your IAC (Idle Air Control) is doing something strange for any number of reasons.
