Default how do I remove drive power seat?

car is disabled and has no way to get conventional power to seat motor.
I have tried applying direct voltage to each pin in teh plug while grounding to seat rail but no luck. is ground only in plug?

seat is perfectly positioned so that neither wrench nor socket will go on any seat base bolt. =(

I have battery and leads-maybe I can hotwire motor?

If you can, try to remove the lower seat cushion to give you a different angle on the fasteners. Might give you more room to work.

after lower cushion is removed, there's 4 bolts holding the seat pan to the rails. Those can be removed, giving you possibly enough access to remove the nuts holding the rails to the floorpan.

The grounding for the seat motors is provided through the harness, not the physical mounting of the rails, as far as I know.

so if I can figure out which is ground then I am good to go as i can just hit each pin with power to see if I can move it.

but to elaborate.....it's a wire retainer that you pull forward and then flip down. A small flat screwdriver can help in doing this since it may be difficult to releae (mine is). Reverse the procedure when reinstalling the bottom cushion.

I used a battery and wires to jump the seat motor at the connector in order to move the seat back. The fsm will tell you which is the ground and the hot terminals.

Had an 88 that had your same problem, except the motor was fried.
Remove the bottom cushion
Remove the 4 bolts holding seat to track
Remove 4 nuts holding track to floor.

Thats exactly how we got the seat out of that 88
