Default C4 ?'s

We're building a chump car out of a beat up '84. Have some ?'s

A.) We plan on going carb'd - Other than a fuel pressure regulator, a carb and intake, anything else noting to get?

I basically wanna go to a 3 wire setup (Ignition, ground, start) on the drive line and get rid of the electronics. For this,

B.) Can you switch these cars to a vacuum advance distributor setup?

C.) Are there any electronic controls from the ECU going to the trans?

Thanks!

Why?

You have pseudo carb'd system on that car as it is.....I mean, it's not gravity fed fuel stream, but you can see the injectors squirting into the throttle body just like a carb...

If you want, find a set of '87 aluminum heads, port the throttle body, intake and heads and then report back....see what kind of beast you've awoken.

Reliability - We'll try and see.

Details on the '87 mod please, what sort of HP gains is that?

Thanks much. We're trying to simplify the monstrosity of 80's technology meets 70's emission standards.

Essentially, remove all the EVAP, EGR, etc, go to a vacuum distributor, and a carb.

Does anyone know if the cam has an eccentric ring on it for a mechanical fuel pump? Basically, I wanna use a$5 mechanical pump vs an electric pump.

Cheers,

Unless the existing injection system has proven itself unreiable to you on this car, why not leave it? If you can change the intake manifold (which you'd have to to go carb'd) then why not just get a Rengade intake? MUCH less work that way.

Aside from that, changing the fuel pump would be kind of pointless as well since the stock system is low pressure already. Just use a good FPR to drop it down low enough for a carb.

Personally, I don't see the point of doing the enourmous amount of work to rip all the wiring out of the car and then re-wire it to get it running when there is nothing wrong with the existing system in the first place.
