Well, had my first major problem today
Ive only owned the car for three weeks or so, today I was coming home from school and I noticed at about 40mph my rpm kept climbing and climbing and the car felt as if it was going no where, I found this quite odd.. my car is a 1995 torch red vette with an automatic, I noticed it started getting worse and worse, it only seems to do it in drive and over drive, not in first or second.... I checked the fluid and it was full, the car starts off fine but when it gets to a certain speed it slips and the rpms climb with no actual acceleration.. any thoughts as to what this is? My thought was the torque converter but not positive

What color is your transmission fluid and does it smell burnt?

Since I have had the car there has always been an odd burning smell.. I don't know what it is... But I would say the fluid definitely looks darker

I tend to agree, since you have 1st & 2nd my guess is the 3-4 clutch pack==total rebuild...

Thank you all for the fast responses. I guess a rebuild will be required.. But hey, that's what happens in the life of hot rodding!

I'm sure he has a kit for your car. Just give him a call, he's very helpful..
