Default Problem with 1996 CE LT4 Corvette

I drove my Dad's mint 67,000 mile Collector Edition LT4 Corvette out last night to get Japanese Carry Out on the way back home about 1/4 mile from the house the Car went from running fine as cool as a cucumber to pegging out the Temp Gauge. I shut it off and the car was hard to start. After the motor cooled down I checked the antifreeze it looked like crap almost like Coke. I started the car and its sounded fine for about 30 seconds then it started making a horrible squealing sound. I shut if off immediately before I could find out the location of the noise. The oil looks clean and fine on the dip stick, I'm hoping its the water pump making the noise and Preying to God its not the Crank. have any of you guys encountered a problem like this? PLEASE HELP, any Input would be greatly appreciated!

LT1/LT4 engines don't have waterpump pulleys. It could be a bearing in the pump, or the vane in the pump coming apart. You're going to have to start it up and listen for the noise. A stethoscope would be handy.

Hah! You're right. I didn't pay attention to the type of car. Had the same problem with a Mustang and it was the water pump pulley.
