weird vacuum
I've been reading about the vacuum system and replacing hoses because my cruise control didn't work and when my a/c is directed out the vents there has been a hissing from the defrost outlet. Pulled the drivers lower panel off and saw the programmer and have been hoping its not that, because the programmer looks like a pia to get to. Was coming home from work today,defrost vent hissing, so I stopped by auto parts store and bought a hand vacuum pump. Started car up to leave and ... No hissing!! Didn't hiss once all the way home. We'll see what happens in tomorrow, stay tuned. John.

Well, this morning I get in the car to go to work and the hissing was there again. Same thing this evening when I left work to go home. The strange thing is that when driving it the hissing out of the defroster vent is louder when the engine is turning low rpm's, like when you are at a stop. When you take off and the rpm's get up to 1800-2000 the hissing goes away. My question is what vacuum line would you start with. I've already replaced both vacuum lines coming out of the cruise control, and the 90 degree fitting going into the vacuum ball. I've also replaced the check valve on the passenger side. Does anyone know what color vacuum line coming out of the programmer goes to the door that controls the defrost vent and ac vents. From looking in the fsm it looks like it might be the tan line. Another question is where does the vacuum from the engine compartment come into the cockpit? This is the black line and it looks like it is behind the radio area. Thanks for any help or suggestions.
