Throw out bearing messed up?
the stock 4+3 manual has been taken out of my 84 and been replace with a richmond 6 speed from eckler's. I didn't have anything to do with the R&R since it was done by the previous owner last year. The clutch and tranny now have 6000 miles on them and this noise is starting to irritate me. If the car is idling in nuetral there is a wierd whining sound, but only when the clutch is engaged, it also has the same noise in 1st through 4th but not in 5th or 6th. The noise gets louder with rpm and goes away if clutch pedal is pushed in. Is my clutch installed wrong or could it be my throw out bearing?
actually it has always done it, the previous owner said a gm mechanic told him it was cause it was new and had to break in. I think he is an idiot. Only owned the car for two months.
my richmond owners manual say's
80-90wt standard petroleum oil, OR synthetic gear lube may be used to improve shiftability.
note: use a lube "without" limited slip additive.
