I plan on changing out the door weatherstripping this weekend (did the rear hatch last night) and while I have the door panels off, I figured I'd swap out the power window motors. How much of a pain is that job? I haven't checked my FSM (mainly because I can't find it) but I would think it's just drilling out some rivets and installing the new one. I searched the forum and couldn't find anything. Any tips?
If you want to really put a smile on your face, swap in the later design regulators. It's an easy thing to do and the window operation will be much faster. To answer your question though, yes, drill out the old rivets and use the supplied hardware to re-attach the motor.
$100 bux each? and the first one will take you an hour...the second one will take 40 minutes.
Every place I checked where the prices were reasonable, they were out of stock. I was seeing them in stock for like $200 each and more. Rock Auto had the OEM style revised regulators for almost $300 each! I've seen them used, but I'm not so sure about those.

I put used ones, motor and all, in my car 8 years ago and haven't touched them since. Of course it's nice if you can physically check them out such as at a swap meet. Make sure the linkages are snug and not sloppy. I got mine from Jay at Vette2Vette, (815) 673-6200.
