mechanical pump for tbi
Hello I have searched all over the internet and came to the conclusion that nobody has done this, the reason i want to is i dont too much care for electrical stuff. I put in a electric fan and it failed so went back to clutch fan. Im not too good with wiring and i didnt want to cut and flare my fuel lines.
Ok so what i got is a complete tbi from a 95 truck came with the entire wiring harness except tail lights, got blinker bulbs, fuse box, sensors, dizzy, computer, air cleaner, intake, and tb with injectors and some funny looking canister.
its going in my 79 350 currently 750 edelbrock with manual pump. Looking at manual fuel pumps and found 2 same price as inline electric one rated at 10 lbs the other for 15

what is the diffrence in pumps as far as will they work the same will they provide the right ammount of flow and whatever else tbi needs read that manual pumps surge fuel and tbi dosent like that too much. like i said im not big on this stuff im more of a welder and painter
and driver

the motor is out of my dads 87 1 ton dulley was gonna take that tbi when we did the swap but i was in too much of a hurry, now im kinda regreting it lol
i have and can do everything else modify my intake to fit the tb run wires that are pre fabbed lol and whatever else that comes along
thanks in advance for the help guys got to the point where i needed to talk to more than 1 person bout this.
Any variation in pressure ( surge) or flow is going to throw the tune out the window as the poor computer "tries " to keep fueling correct
With a mech pump ,no prime function so you are going to have to crank the engine
until the fuel pressure comes up ( no fuel at injectors ready like a carb) .
Good EFI engine will fire as soon as the key turned; with little or no crank
There is a reason elec pumps are used , they maintain constant fuel pressure and flow rate ; usually through a bypass regulator.
A mech pump just fills a bucket ( the carb bowl ) so it doesn't matter if flow or pressure varies because the pressure is constant at the bottom of fuel bowl
