I have an 89 and am trying to unplug the engine harness from connector C100 near the battery. The connector is very tight and I cannot get anything to move, plus it is hard to work in that area with the booster next to it and the clutch master above it. What am I missing? The only thing I find in the FSM is a picture.
There is a screw in the center of the connector that holds the mating halves together. I don't remember the size, probably 7mm or 8mm.
On my car the connector was filled with sticky black dielectric grease. Don't remove that. It keeps the connector pins from oxidizing. It gets wiped away from the connection as the connector is mated, so it will not interfere with a good connection. I'm pretty sure GM went to a different kind of grease in later years, but I don't know when.
