There is no adjustment for the clutch. I had this problem with my 87 and I also observed that the clutch had to be pressed all the way to the floor and the effort increased greatly. The problem was the plastic bushing on the pin on the clutch pedal that the clevis on the master cylinder rod fits on was worn out and caused the master cylinder rod to move off at an angle which increases the pedal effort and requires full pedal extension and still may not fully disengage the clutch making for grinding shifts. (how's that for a run on sentence? do I get a medal?) When I get home I'll post the GM part number, its only about $6, so if that isn't it, then you aren't broke.
