In my 1996 Collector's Edition (LT-1/automatic) the traction control light comes on once in a while (very briefly) for no apparent reason when you grt on the acelerator a bit. Of course, you lose a lot of power at that moment and it is very annoying. Turning the TC off eliminates it from happening but then you are driving without the benefit of the TC. Anyone have this problem ?
Sounds like its working fine to me. Mine will even come on if I hit a decent pot hole, or even making a very sharp right hand turn from a shopping center.
ASR is a safety enhancement system NOT a performance Traction/Stability Control like on C5's and nothing like Performance Traction Management on newer C6's.
If ASR sees wheel spin it intervenes harshly. For performance driving switch it off. Street use=On.
I think that something is changing and not for the better. I have a 1996 LT4 6 speed that is now having the same issue. Actually, mine might be worse. Even an on or off ramp trip can engage the asr. The system is clearly triggering when wheel spin is not present. However, it did not do this before I made some changes to the car. recently, I put new hubs, brakes and tires on the rear and then had the car aligned. The tires are a little narrower than the ones they replaced. I'm not quite happy with the new hubs because I'm still getting some noise from them I think. Still checking things out and will let you know what I find. In the mean time, if anyone's already been through this and could share their experience, it would be greatly appreciated.
