Default 1986 4+3 Question

The button that overides the OD on my 4+3 tranny doesn't work. The car shifts automatically into OD, but I want the manual control. Is there a relay or fuse I should be checking? Any other thoughts? Thanks in advance.

There is a posibility that the fuse is blown. Check the fuse. Then if it still does not work, check the switch which is located at the bottom of the shifter. The contcts do get corroded often and may just need cleaning. The OD is controlled by the ECM. If all else fails, you can test the operation at the solenoid on the trans itself.

If everything except for your switch is working, then the switch has bit the dust. A new one is $80 from GM with the wiring harness on it. Or you can get a new one for $11 without the wiriing harness on it from http://www.newark.com ; I have the P/N around here somewhere. You would just have to transfer the wires to the new one with some solder. :)
