Cruise-In II Veteran

Check compresson on all cylinders.
If AOK, pull valve covers and, if no obvious problem, check lift on each valve.

Pull a valve cover problem should make itself obvious

You can use a stethescope (long wooden/metal dowel) run it along the valve cover with the other end to your ear youll know real quick where it is before pulling it off. Check to make sure your pushrods are straight too

If you haven't check your sparkplug for being tight and the exhaust gasket.

check the exhaust gasket , i was fooled long time thinking of bad bad problems
i even swapped lifters !!! it was the exhaust gasket at cyl #8 ! and it was impossible
to view !

I would check the rockers to see if they are lifting the same on #8 as the others...perhaps a bad lifter?

just call me rain man. exhaust leak #8. i know what shop im not going to anymore. i did what they did and ONLY used a stethoscope. what about using a freaking wrench??? both bolts very loose.
