Did you replace the injector with the same size injector?

The 85 uses 24# injectors. Burning your eyes sounds like it's lean. If so it could be a vacuum leak.

Could be a vacuum leak.

Poor spark will result in a rich condition. Check the condition of the spark plugs, wires, and distributor.

Check all of the connections before and after the MAF. If air leaks anywhere the air that the MAF reports will be false, creating a rich condition.

How is the fuel pressure?

Is the charcoal canister connected? What is its condition?

If you have a vacuum leak, wouldn't you notice a change/problem with your idle speed?

dependent on the size of the leak, the iac can make up the diff...no?

burning eye's doe's it go away after warm up? if it does maybe your air pump is not rushing air to pre heat the cat, or you popped off an air tube.

besides vacuum leak would cause a lean condition, vacuum leak air stream is not read by the Mass air flow and will not therefore will compensate.

I've got similar issue, it's not so bad that it burns my eyes. My A.I.R. System has been deleted, I installed a new CAT. I've checked for vacuum leaks and basically replaced all the vacuum lines. When I was doing my vacuum lines I was able find a diagram on the web. I googled it, if I remember correctly it had been posted on some other forum. If you come up with a solution, let me know. I am under the impression that I'm getting the smell of unburned gas because my A.I.R. System has been deleted and the CAT is not getting hot enough.

I once had the air diverter freeze up, sending air into the manifolds all the time, makig the o2 sensor think it was lean so the computer put it into full rich. Removing the system fixed it and it smelled fine, no new problems. Was a firebird though, but shouldnt be too different.

Keep in mind that 02 sensors can also fail in ways that wont throw a trouble code. Mine had one that once warmed up put out a nearly fixed voltage in the mid .4s. Make a scanner cable, find an old laptop, and check your sensor readings.
