Default Need cam advice for this setup

Check the engine specs in my sig. I'm thinking about stroking the bottom end of this engine and I'm curious what cam would best suit this setup with a change up to 383ci. What if I swapped in AFR 190's to boot? Any other nit-pick mods I need to be aware of with the increased cubic inches? How high a compression ratio should I run with this setup and still use pump gas?

personally I like the Comp Cams Extreme grinds. They don't need to rev high and make good power. Call Comp, they can help more than I can. Good luck/

A proven set up with a super ram 383ci motor is the LPE219 cam. Many here on the forum(Beach,JD, etc) run this set up with times in the mid 11's! I would keep the compression ratio below 11.5:1. Its possible to run higher on pump gas, but not you'll need a bigger cam to bleed off cylinder pressure and really good tuning.
The comp cams extreem grinds are agressive lobes that build cylinder pressure early, which is similiar to the LPE grind. :yesnod:

I went with 11.5:1 because it's really not THAT high on our motors. 10.5:1 and 10.8:1 is done easily with the LTx engine because of the reverse cooling. By keeping our heads cooler than 9.5:1 engines, they are able to get more compression in there.

Basd on your sig, I am guessing your car is a '91 (ZZ3 motor). If that is the case, you probably want to stick to 10.5 or less compression if you build it up.

10.5 is as high as I would go on a L98. Many have had great result with the LPE 219 cams. If you want something more radical I would go with a custom comp cams grind.
