Ok I am confused. I read some places that the 93' has a 700r4 transmission. Now it seems that it maybe a 4l60. Is there a number in the vehicle ID number that identifies what transmission you have? It appears that the 92's and 93's were wierd years for some reason

Official designation is 4L60, essentially the same as a 700R4, each year of course has minor differences as a design evolves. This is a case of GM changing the way they designate transmissions, nothing more.

Ok sounds good. The big reason I asked this question is because I need to order a overhaul kit and I seen the kit listed for the 93' as the 700r4 and some as 4L60. Sounds like it could be the same kit?

Yes. It's the same kit.

Most all of those kits have the new 4l60 parts so you're good to go.
