Found this inside my door????
I'm prepping an 88 coupe for a repaint, and started taking the doors apart to pull the mirrors and body moldings.
I found this rattling around in the bottom of the drivers side door, and I can't seam to find anything on the passenger side that looks like it.
Anyone have a clue what it is?
I'm stumped, the window works fine, locks all work, etc.

It was down near the lock and door handle end.
Thought maybe it was some kind of blocking plate to stop someone from fishing the door lock, but I don't see it on the other side.
It's odd that it has only one hole in it.

I have been in many a door panel I have not been in mine. I have seen similar covers and I believe you are correct.. it looks like it covers the door handle. Does it fit there?

Just chuck it. Your door worked with it nestled at the bottom. Your car will be lighter and faster.

Could it be a fitment gauge used on the assembly line?

Got another chance to look at it after I got cleaned up.
It has a part number on it.

I'm not too concerned about it, just a mystery that I don't see anything inside the other door that looks like it.
BTW - I hate jamming my arm up into these doors.
You have to be Gumby or something to reach anything.

i have a kit that was issued for the loose door panel fix on the 84-87 corvette. there were four brackets that installed at the top inside edge of the door panels. the brackets would slide over the inner metal frame of the door.

SuperL98.
Any chance you can post some measurements of the bracket so we can make them, looks easy enough to make.
Thanks!

Just a quick sketch measured with calipers.
Best I can do.
Keep in mind that the RH side would bend the other way.
