Hi ok quick question 1990 vette putting headers on wile the work is being done want to change the ugly brown aged valve covers I seem to hear about the proforms on Summit I like the pro-141-130 polished or141-107 will they bold on? what's this I hear about a wiper motor in the way and a tall cover? vrs a normal sized? thanks for the help!!
Just finished replacing my stock valve covers on my 88 L-98 for the second time in since 1988. I bought the paint to refinish the covers to make them "look" like stock. This paint will last up to 10 years. My covers have 4 bolts that are in the center of the cover. I managed to get the drivers side cover on without removing the wiper, only the electrical plug in the front. The problem is the fuel injector wires are thick and in order to get the cover on you have to pull the wires back as far as possible and mount the cover at the wiper side first and then it will fall into place. It takes some pactience believe me. Sorry I can't shot you a photo. The paint will make it look factory but not shiny.
Hmmm ok yes I was thinking of painting them but with the tpi new tube runners i got their polished so was thinking of going with a new cover all together anyhow thank you for the info ,tho hope the pro forms will fit the center bolt covers
Sometimes with taller valve covers the wiper motor interferes. You have to notch the corner of the cover and have it welded back together. Sometimes the alternator also has interference, but that might be limited to LT motors.
I would think the issue with tall covers would be the EGR pipe that crosses the passenger side cover, and the A/C compressor as well. On my 91 those two places arecertainly an issue. I've decided to just have a set of stock covers ceramic coated silver instead. Cheaper and no fitment issues.
I put the tall version of these valve covers on my 91 with no issues. I believe your 90 is pretty much identical under the hood so I assume you could fit them without issues.

Nice clean looking engine compartment. Slowly trying to make my 86 look that nice.

I restored my covers myself. Have a local bodyshop sandblast them, then use a high-heat wrincle coat to match the texture of the plenum, then use a high-heat caliper paint in silver. This is how I did mine and thet look awsome. The finish hardens even more when the engine gets hot/cold. Check out my pics in "My garage".
