Default increasing performance on a c4?

Well I went from a C4 to a C5 to a C6 back to a C4 again...

I actually went out and got the same identical C4 I used to have 15 years ago.

Anyways, its stock and does me right with no complaints. This time around I wanted to screw around with performance on Corvette. I was just curious on the simple/easy ways to increase HP or overall performance.

I'm open to any thoughts or suggestions,

Thanks!

Stand back about 5' from the car and throw handfuls of dead presidential portraits at the car until it's faster :P

IMHO, bolt-ons are nearly worthless. Set a goal, either performance or budget. Then make a comprehensive plan to achieve that goal. E.G. do you want a 10.5 second car or an autocrosser? do you want to spend 5K or 15K etc.

LT-1

I was thinking about just doing some bolt ons and making it simple. Maybe a chip and playing around with air intake.

I dont want to make the car too powerful where it'll break the car. I honestly just miss the HP I had with my 2006. From going to 400 to 300hp, i can tell the difference.

Two biggest jumps in "bolt on" power I have done and been able to TRUELY notice is

1: Long tube headers
and
2: PCMforless tune

plus cat-back muffler eliminators will give you a positive boost.

Long tubes on an otherwise stock LT1 are worth very little. If you really want to learn how to make your LT1 faster, click HERE.

100hp increase is pretty substantial. Seems like a nitrous solution give us a budget we will be more than happy to spend it for you!

Longtube headers and PCM4less tune does not increase power. I have dynoed my LT1 (93 model) before and after installing Melrose Longtube headers (+ tune from PCM4less). There were a slightly increase in RWHP and torque - but not much. If you want to get more power only serious upgrades will do. I have also replaced stock cam with an "agressive" comp.cam. Not much gain either.. I believe either a heads/cam combo and/or stroker kit will do the job ;-)

Check out my blog ;-)

I'm curious, why did you go back to a C4 after having a C5 and a C6?
Was it the styling or some other reason?

I would agree. That and the styling. I have a '86 Coupe and I prefer the styling to the C5s and C6s any day.

How about deeper gears for more performance "feel"?

It's cheaper to go back to a C5. But, it you really want to build it to C5 (or even C5Z06) levels...

Stroke it to 383 or 396, AFR heads, headers, cam, improved intake, and tune.

Also, transmission and rear-end modifications if it's an automatic.

You might be able to get under $10k with clever shopping...or if you have a ZF/Dana 44.

FWIW, I've driven an LT4 with a hotcam. My L98 383 is more fun -- like the newest vettes. I think you'll need a stroker -- especially if you've been in a larger CI C6. As such, I'm not sure headers, rockers, and a few more "tweaks" will satisfy your C5/C6 power-level appetite.

I'm also curious about your trade back to a C4?
