1 5/8" primaries..That means the inner tube diameter is 1 1/2".

Meanwhile, 1 7/8" is the new norm for LSx motors with many 2" header designs also available.

Ive heard you (illenema) talk about going forced induction. Keep in mind, if you go forced induction it is absolutely critical to have your exhaust back pressure to a minimum so that the supercharger wont be fighting the exhaust backpressure during that cam overlap phase (which hopefully the cam you use will have a 114+ LSA 'blower cam' to keep that cam overlap phase to a minimum).

Ex. if your blower makes 10 psi and your exhaust has 5 psi of backpressure, then you are only shoving 5 psi of boost into the cylinders during the overlap phase.

For a N/A motor these are fine, especially for low end L98 TQ machines. FI, Id personally go 1 3/4" +

ARH makes a great set of stepped headers.

Thanks for the information, and yes I am going with Boost and plenty of it.
The stock motor is very healthy, and this will be a weekend only driver so I am doing it correct the first time.

Ya I have read all about this, My system very free flowing,
I am seriously considering a muffer less system. ( I ran this car right out of the cats for a while and nothing else compares )
I now have the OBX system on there and it so quiet it sounds like something is clogged up. Even though the mufflers are straight open as well as the resonator.
On my Z I was running watsons and borlas and it was how I like it.
I might get the cheapo OBX headers and run straight out of there, i will see.

I'd be a lot more concerned about the 14.7 psi of backpressure that ambient air provides at sea level. People always forget about that, but that is one of the best features about Flowmasters - they do the most to keep that external backpressure out of your exhaust system.

That said, remember that the exhasut valve diameter and the port flow/diameter is the choke point if you go to headers that are larger than 1 5/8". Better make sure you build it strong to handle "lots of boost". That means a 4-bolt main block, forged crank/rods/pistons, and heads that will flow enough that you're not wasting all that boost.

Default Headers on my 92 Convertable LT-1

I'm thinking of installing stainless headers on my 92 Vette.
Has anyone done this and is it worth the work for horsepower
and performance? What headers do you recemmend?

Do you think I have to go with stainless headers? $1100. Is kind of pricey. Will non stainless give me the same horsepower?
