go to Harbor Freight and buy the steering wheel removal kit or check one out from your local parts store loaner program.
Ok I can't find a link but here's the deal...
Figure out how to remove the center cover. On my car there are screws from the back that hold it on. Check the back of the steering wheel for clips or screws. Then it's a matter of assembling the puller. The kit will have a variety of bolts and a little card showing their configuration.

It's been a while since I removed one, but I remember there being a locking plate held in place by a ring. That plate locks the wheel in place when the car is off and needs to be pushed down with another special tool to remove the ring, then the plate. I think the kit has all the tools needed. Maybe that was what I did to rebuild a column, I forget.

AutoZone will loan you the tools you need. Their plan is that you buy the tools then get your money back when you return them.
There is something in there referred to as a "turtle". It is a plastic cap to insulate the horn contacts. They sometimes get destroyed when removing the lock plate. You can buy them at most parts stores.
