right side hood latch

Default right side hood latch

the right side hoodn latch on my 84 is stuck, secondary release broken. the primary cable is OK. How can i release the latch or access the right side latch assembly? any suggestions?

While inspecting my "new" 35th Anni the right side would not release. While I pulled on the hood release lever the salesman pulled up on the right side of the hood and then pushed down sharply on the center of the hood, near the windshield. This was enough to release the RH hood latch.

Of course I immediately backed off the locking nut and adjusted the latch pull a bit to solve the problem.

If the above doesn't work, MAM sells a tool that can be inserted above the top door hinge into the latch area to release the latch.

You might be able to release the hood by pushing down on the right side of the hood above the latch while pulling the hood release.

The latch hooks on the end of a stud on the hood. If the rubber bumper is adjusted too high it can put so much pressure on the latch/stud that when you pull the hood release it can't pull the latch away from the stud to release it. The bumper is the round black thing on the left in this pic:
