Dead speedometer
Greetings! Please forgive me if I'm posting in an inappropriate place - it's my first post. Ok, here's the thing. My dad has an '84 w/ the manual 4+3 transmission. His speedo stopped working. Upon pulling out the speedo sensor, we found that the clip holding the driving gear had come out, so the drive gear could just spin on the shaft.
The question - is it possible to get this clip back installed without removing the transmission & overdrive unit and disassembling it? I don't mind giving it a try if it's possible, but I'd rather know there's a possibility for success first...
Why would the clip have popped out, anyway???
