Default Transmission and oil problems

Long story....Sorry up front.
Last week I bought a 1994 vette with 83,xxx original miles....

Good: Great shape, clean, all paperwork including build sheet, window sticker, and original delivery papers.

Bad: sat undriven (inside a garage covered) but started every month for over a year due to rear main oil leak needing repair.

Now: Over the weekend I replaced rear main seal and everything looked good until I drove a while and leak came back and now with more education and searching I think it is the intake gasket and was all along (dangit!)
Also now since I have put the car back together the transmission does not shift automaticlly. I can shift it manually but thats it. I am not sure it shifted correctly when I bought it as I only drove a short distance due to oil leak and wasnt really paying attention to that.
I have the following codes
H74
H81
H82
H84
H90

I double checked the transmission connector plug and its pluged in but the part attached to the transmission ( center part where connector attaches) seems to have some play. It moves up and down ( maybe 1/8 of an inch) as you pull on it.

My questions:
Should that connector have play up and down?
If the connector is good is there a way to check the solenoids in the transmission without dropping pan?
How can I be sure the ECM is sending the signal or is the fact I am getting the code means it is working on the car side and not receiving a signal back from the tranny?

Thanks for any advice!!

Does anyone have a clue why this would be doing this?

For the transmission solenoid problems verify the 10 amp Valet fuse
(on the passenger side end of the dash) is good.
It should measure 12 volts with the ignition On.

With the plug at the transmission disconnected, turn the ignition On.
You should measure 12 volts on the Brown wire of the plug.

If you want to measure the resistance of the solenoids.

Unplug the connector at the transmission. Look at the color of
the wires of the plug mating with the transmission plug.

Use a ohm meter and measure the resistance of the following
wires at the connector plug that goes into the transmission.

The 1-2 solenoid is the Light Green wire to Brown wire 20-40 ohms.
The 2-3 solenoid is the Yellow/black wire to Brown wire 20-40 ohms.
The 3-2 Control solenoid is the White wire to Brown wire 9-14 ohms.
The Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid is the Tan/Black wire to
Brown wire 20-40 ohms.

Default Your a genius!!

Hooked on Vettes you are a genius!!!!!! I took the harness coupler apart to get to wires for testing and low and behold the brown (power) wire had pulled it self loose from the coupler and was loose in the plastic loom. I plugged it in and ran codes and had none. Put the exhaust back and drove her and she shifted like a dream. Thank you so much!!!!!!!

PS ....do you have any secrets for replacing the intake gasket....lol
